What is Video marketing?
Video marketing is basically a way of using a variety of different styles of video, to market or promote a product or service. It is one of the fastest growing advertising formats in the UK alone, and grew by 63% in 2013. Product reviews and customer testimonials are becoming more popular, with a great many people turning to reviews on media websites such as YouTube, before making a decision on whether to buy a product, or use a company based on a video review.
If you’re not doing Video marketing, you are missing out on a massive opportunity to capture the eye of a prospective customer!
Video connects people. The fusiform facial brain function is part of the visual system and makes us pay attention to faces, to gather information and evaluate the emotional responses. Video gives you a direct appeal to that emotional centre in the brain. With video marketing, you are automatically able to attach a human face to a message that you are receiving through visual means. The human to human connection through video has more of an influence and is more engaging than reading facts on a web page. We are affected by emotions and body language that are portrayed.
Video Marketing is everywhere. There are streams of video fired at you from everywhere…..YouTube, video ads, television, video games and mobile phones. With a smartphone, we can access video online at anytime and anywhere, as long as you have an internet connection of course. With platforms such as YouTube which are currently free to upload a video, you can reach your audience wherever they are in a cost-effective way.
Video is a great for SEO. Don’t forget that Google owns YouTube and that adds power and authority to videos linked to your websites, which in turn boosts your website rankings in an organic search. This alone is good reason to have a video on your website.
Videos work. In an online survey for a major retailer, 90% of shoppers said that they find a video about the product helpful. Retailers who provide videos of their product or service sell a lot more than with no video.
